This Wetherspoon pub bears the name of Woodrow Wilson, who became the 28th president of the United States in 1912. His mother, Janet, was born in Carlisle, in 1826, the fifth child of the Reverend Thomas Woodrow.
The pub is part of the old Co-op. The present building was erected, in 1904, for the Carlisle South End Co-op Society. Designed by T Taylor Scott, and quarried from local stone, this building replaced several other society shops on the same site. Inside, the various departments were arranged around a central arcade. There were also other Co-op premises in Botchergate.
We show live subtitled news (on silent) throughout the day.
