Rann Wartha is the Cornish translation of 'the higher quarter', home to Cornwall's china clay industry, on the outskirts of the town, which became Treverbyn parish. The Rann Wartha is the fifth J D Wetherspoon pub to open in Cornwall and the fourth to be named in Cornish.
Named after a Celtic missionary, St Austell is part of the centuries-old administrative area known as the Hundred of Powder. Mining has played an important part in St Austell's history, from Elizabethan times to the present day. It is home to the independent, family-run St Austell Brewery, established in 1869 by Walter Hicks.
We show live subtitled news (on silent) throughout the day.
