The Quay

The Quay was the name of the existing pub taken over by Wetherspoon, which had occupied this former warehouse since c1996.

In Tudor times, the Quayside was called the Great Quay, even though it was less than 200 feet long! The Little Quay was added and further extended in the late 18th century. This was the New Quay, where this pub and warehouses and wharves were built.
