Pub History
The name of this Wetherspoon pub recalls its former use as a casino. Blackjack is a popular casino game, where players try to beat the dealer without their cards totalling more than 21 points. As play progresses, they are asked at the end of each round if they want to 'stick or twist'.
The pub's surroundings are very much a post-war development. When it was first developed, in the 1820s and 1830s, it was located between Brunswick Terrace (which still stands) and Coburg Street.
