The William Rufus has been recognised by its local Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) branch with an award.
The pub, in Carlisle, was voted ‘pub of the season’, for winter 2012/13, by members of the Solway CAMRA branch.
Neil Richards, editor of the Solway branch newsletter, said: “Congratulations to Matt Potts and his staff on winning our ‘pub of the season’ award.
“The outlet is a large city-centre pub, situated in the ‘entertainment quarter’ of Botchergate. The interior is quite modern in style, with very good facilities.
“Every Thursday evening, there is a well-supported quiz, based on music and general knowledge.
“The long bar now boasts eight hand-pumps, serving an ever-changing range of guest and local ales. There is also a real cider regularly on sale.”
Matt (left) said: “We are all absolutely delighted to have been voted as ‘pub of the season’ and thank pub liaison officer Philip Tuer (right) and the Solway CAMRA branch members for their continued support.”
