Following the success of the ‘Three Peaks challenge’ last year, Wetherspoon’s area manager Craig Coombes organised another regional challenge for CLIC Sargent.
The ‘Welsh 3000s challenge’ involved participants climbing to the top of all 15 mountains, over 3,000ft, in Wales, in under 24 hours.
Craig Coombes, Phil Buckley, Paul Curran, Will Fotheringham, Mike Hall and Chris Place started with a two-hour-15-minute climb to the top of Snowdon, which included the Garnedd Ugain section, as well as the notorious Crib Goch.
In 19 hours and five minutes, the climbers, helped by the ground support team of Eddie Greaves, Mike Morrissey and Paul Miller, reached Foel-Fras, chalking up the 15th peak, which marked the end of the challenge. Next stop: Kilimanjaro!
