Staff at the nine Wetherspoon pubs across Northern Ireland showed their support for CLIC Sargent, with a 24-hour ‘Big Sleep-In’ event.
The fund-raiser, which amassed £8,819.95 through sponsorship and donations, saw staff sleeping in their pubs for a night, to raise funds for CLIC Sargent’s Homes from Home Appeal.
Darren Niven, area manager for Wetherspoon in Northern Ireland, said: “The ‘Big Sleep-In’ involved spending a night in the pub, away from home, without home comforts or loved-ones nearby.
“These are just a few examples of the challenges which families can face, while a child or young person has cancer treatment so far away from home.
“Thanks to all of the staff and customers, in our nine pubs in the province, who really got behind the event and helped to raise awareness and funds for the appeal.
“This campaign is especially close to our hearts, as it will support local families in Northern Ireland.”
