The Widow Frost has been voted ‘pub of the season’, by the local Campaign for Real Ale branch.
The pub in Mansfield was chosen by members at Mansfield & Ashfield CAMRA, as the best pub for spring 2012.
The criteria for the best pub are: consistently good real ale – the most important single factor; atmosphere – whether it’s a rural gem or a back-street boozer; service and welcome – friendliness and being served a full measure; clientele mix – a good cross-section of people and ages; support for CAMRA’s aims – lined glasses, mild, real cider etc; good value – in the widest sense.
Anthony Ridgill (pictured), pub manager at The Widow Frost, said: “We have now won a number of seasonal awards from the CAMRA branch, and our aim is to win its ‘pub of the year’ title.
“There is tough competition in the area, so we are always delighted to receive a new award."
