Staff and customers at The Arnold Machin have helped a local school to achieve a very important target.

The Aynsley Special School, in Stoke on Trent, needed to raise £20,000, to gain ‘special school status’ to receive government funding.

Various fund-raising efforts, by pub manager Matt Washington and his team at the pub in Newcastle-under-Lyme, amassed £3,500 over a two-year period, to help the school to reach its goal.

Beverley Hancock, a regular customer at The Arnold Machin and teacher at Aynsley Special School, told Matt all about the school’s plight – and he was keen to help with the local community project.
