A charity event at The Knights Templar, in Chancery Lane, raised more than £16,000 for the Badger Ward Appeal.
The charity raises money to support children with various respiratory difficulties and those in the intensive-care unit, at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Badger Ward patient and event organiser Tiana Kishinani (15), who suffered from cystic fibrosis, and her family arranged the event for 300 ticket-holders.
The funds were generated through an auction and raffle, with an array of fantastic prizes, donated by local jewellers, as well as a laptop, luxury hampers and Eurostar vouchers.
The money will go towards research and entertainment equipment.
Tiana said: “This has been a big dream for me to have a massive party with all my friends and family around me and, at the same time, raise money to help children who are sometimes less fortunate than me.
“I never believed that I could make that happen and have been completely overwhelmed with the amount of generosity which everyone has shown.”
Tiana sadly lost her battle and passed away on January 27, 2012. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
