Pub managers Ian and Charlene McLean are pictured at The Watch Maker, in Prescot.

The pub has opened on the site of a former supermarket.

The pub’s name refers to the area’s long-standing association with watch-making, dating from 1600.

By 1860, more than one-third of the town’s population was employed in the clockand watch-making trade – and Prescot gained a worldwide reputation for the quality of its craftsmanship.

The pub features a specially commissioned giant (1.4m-diameter) pocket watch.
