Rock ’n’ Roll legends Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt are pictured with Wetherspoon’s chairman Tim Martin and chief executive John Hutson at the launch of the band’s beer Piledriver – at The Crosse Keys, in the City of London.
The beer, a 4.3% ABV malty amber ale, brewed by Wychwood Brewery, is being served exclusively in Wetherspoon’s pubs (until April).
To mark the beer’s launch, the band met staff and customers at The Crosse Keys. Wetherspoon’s chairman Tim Martin said: "Status Quo is an iconic band - and we are thrilled that they chose to launch their beer in our pubs."
“Piledriver is a classic English beer and sits perfectly among the many other real ales which our pubs offer at all times.” Francis Rossi said: “We’re thrilled that Wetherspoon’s have come on board to support Piledriver. It’s a really big deal. Making this beer is much like recording an album – if you can’t reach the people there’s really no point.”
Rick Parfitt added: “There’s no better way to get the great Piledriver beer out to the great British public than by teaming up with Wetherspoon.”
