A former Woolworths is now home to Wetherspoon’s first pub in Prestwick.

The Prestwick Pioneer is managed by Colin Rawson, previously manager at The West Kirk, in Ayr.

Colin is pictured (third left) with staff and guests from CLIC’s Malcolm Sargent House in Prestwick, with mascot Malcolm the Monkey and West FM DJ Jen McGinley (fourth right) who officially opened the pub.

The pub’s name pays homage to David McIntyre, one of Scotland’s leading aviation pioneers and the man behind Prestwick Airport.

He later set up Scottish Aviation, manufacturing the single-engine Prestwick Pioneer aircraft.
