Wetherspoon’s new pub in Poynton has returned to its original name.
The Kingfisher, managed by Kirstin Downham (pictured), has opened on the site of a former pub and taken its name from the original title, when the pub was built in 1964.
The pub’s bar has a viewing window into the working cellar.
The design of The Kingfisher reflects the village’s history as the first headquarters for Pickfords haulage and removal company.
The pub features artwork and murals, paintings by local artists Rob Wilson and David Bez and a commissioned sculpture of a flying kingfisher.
