Pub manager Ian Gregory is pictured at The David Macbeth Moir, with Elena Di Rollo, whose family ice cream factory is situated behind the pub and whose family built the original cinema.
David Macbeth Moir served Musselburgh throughout his life as a ‘friend and doctor’ and was also a well-known author, writing several bestsellers.
A monument was erected in the town, in 1853, shortly after his death, with Charles Dickens being one of the many subscribers who paid for the memorial to this ‘much-loved citizen’.
The pub, built on the site of a former bingo hall, previously a cinema, has a beer garden to the rear of the premises and also features commissioned artwork by local artist Ronnie Elliott.
