The Company of Weavers

The Mayor of Witney, Cllr Harry Eaglestone, is pictured with manager Dave Duppa-Whyte at the opening of The Company of Weavers.
The pub has been built on the site of a former nightclub and pays homage to the town’s association with the making of woollen cloth and the blankets which carried the name of the town around the world.
In 1711, ‘the blankett weavers inhabiting in and near Witney’ obtained a royal charter to establish a company to regulate their trade.
A feature fireplace, a commissioned sculptural screen and a reclaimed weaving loom, as well as paintings by local artists, are displayed.
