The Bishop Blaize, in Stretford, Manchester, played host to the England football squad, during the squad’s preparations for the 2009 Homeless World Cup.
The players were training at Old Trafford football stadium (home to Manchester United, supporters of the Homeless World Cup) just a stone’s throw from the pub, before departing for the tournament in Milan, Italy.
The Wetherspoon pub provided discounted meals and drinks vouchers for the 14-strong group which was staying in a nearby hotel.
The Bishop Blaize’s manager, Aaron Haggas, said: “We were only too happy to do our bit to support the players.
“The football tournament is a fantastic idea which has helped many homeless people worldwide.”
