Peter Laird, duty manager at The Water House, in Durham, enlisted the help of friends for a charity walk.

The six-strong team, made up of former armed forces personnel, as well as Peter’s colleague, duty manager Paul Richards, completed an 84-mile speed march across Hadrian’s Wall.

Pictured (left to right) are Mark Colledge and Stephen Wilkinson (Cadet Force), Jamie Sayers (ex-Royal Marine), Peter (ex-army officer), Paul and Simon Owens (ex-Air Rifles) who travelled from the west coast to Wallsend in Newcastle.

They completed the challenge in 23 hours, 10 minutes and raised £2,000 to be split between CLIC Sargent and Help for Heroes.

Peter said: “The aim, by going non-stop throughout the night, was to complete it in under 24 hours. Thanks to all of the guys, some of whom are my old military friends, and everyone for their generous pledges.”
