The William Tyler pub donated a barrel of ale and some ‘beer knowhow’, to help out at a local charity beer festival.

The pub, in Yardley, provided a barrel of ‘mystery beer’ for the Yardley Beer Festival, at St Edburgha’s Church Halls, as well as advice on the keeping of the 17 ales, three ciders and one perry being served at the event.

Festival organiser Martin Collinge said: “Festival-goers had the opportunity to guess the identity of the beer from The William Tyler. Although some came close, nobody worked out that it was White Monk, from the Phoenix Brewery.”

“The festival was a great success, with over £4,000 in profit being made for the extensive repair and renovation work which is needed on the church.”
