It really is a family affair at the City and County, in Goole.
Eight members of management and staff have clocked up almost 80 years’ Wetherspoon service among them.
Husband-and-wife management team Simon and Danielle Pierce have been at City and County for a decade, taking over not long after the pub first opened.
Pub manager Simon started with the company in London 18 years ago, while kitchen manager Danielle has worked for Wetherspoon for 13 years.
Shift manager Jannine Wallace has been at the pub since it opened in July 2001, while her sisters, team leader Nicola and bar associate Lindsey, have worked at the Yorkshire outlet for nine and five years, respectively.
Shift manager Karen Alsop also joined the team when the pub opened, more than a decade ago, as did team leader Shane Scarr, although he left to study, but returned to clock up eight years’ service to date, while shift leader Bradley Wheldrake is a relative new boy, with six years under his belt.
Jannine said: “It really is a family atmosphere and a great close-knit unit to be working with. Simon and Danielle have been a management team for a long time – and that settled environment has rubbed off on us all.
“As well as the staff, we have a regular base of customers – and the pub’s atmosphere is lovely, so it is a great place to work.”
