Wetherspoon pubs made up a quarter of this year’s finalists in the Shropshire Best Bar None awards 2010.
Having already achieved silver status in the county’s Best Bar None scheme – the highest possible assessment – 20 licensed premises, including five Wetherspoon pubs, were nominated for their relevant ‘Best of Category’ awards.
The five pubs were: Jewel of the Severn (in Bridgnorth), The Hippodrome (in Market Drayton), The Wilfred Owen (in Oswestry), Montgomery’s Tower and The Shrewsbury Hotel (both in Shrewsbury).
Chief Inspector Martin Whitelegg, who presented the awards at the ceremony organised by West Mercia Police, praised all of those who had joined the scheme and worked so hard to gain the prestigious silver status.
