An evening with Manchester United legend Phil Neville, at The Bishop Blaize, generated £1,200 for a local charity.

The former Manchester United footballer was at the Stretford pub, for a question-and-answer event, to help to raise funds for the Manchester Children’s Hospital, of which he is patron.

A total of 120 customers enjoyed the evening, hosted by compère Pete Boyle, which also included a three-course meal and entertainment from comedian Vince Atta.

A charity auction, as well as match-day fancy-dress events, amassed the fundraising total for the hospital.

Pub manager Ben Plunkett, pictured second right with (l to r) Vince Atta, Phil Neville and Pete Boyle, said: “The evening was a fantastic success. The pub was packed and we raised a great total for charity.”
