They raised more than ￡780, beating last year’s figure of ￡505 in the process.
The pub’s manager, Paul Ferguson (seated), kept his promise to have his head shaved, if the 2007 figure was beaten, with the honour going to customer Alan Starr (standing), who bid the highest amount.
Local businesses, shops and suppliers, as well as the town’s theatre and council, all donated prizes, which were auctioned and raffled at the pub.
Other activities included a name-the-teddy competition and another to guess the number of bottle tops in a vodka bottle.
Paul said: “Our goal was to beat the total set in 2007 – so we are delighted in being able to do this.
“Our customers showed tremendous support and generosity, once again, and it is thanks to their efforts that CLIC Sargent has benefited.”
