The Opera House, in Royal Tunbridge Wells, has won a Safer Socialising Award (SSA).

The award recognises the pub’s participation in the Kent town’s pub watch scheme, along with its vigilance and dedication to providing a safer night-time economy for those in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

The Opera House was one of only two businesses (the other a nightclub) to gain the award, the first to be given in west Kent.

The pub’s manager, Jane Read (pictured), was presented with the award by Chief Inspector Martin Wilson.

The SSA is designed to help local businesses to make a positive contribution to community safety, through the improved standards of the management of licensed premises.
