Wetherspoon, in partnership with DHL, has been recognised with a top award for its ‘leadership and innovation in encouraging recycling’.
It has won the Chartered Institute of Waste Management award – Recycling Performance of the Year.
The company works with suppliers to reduce the amount of packaging across numerous product lines and pubs recycle as much of their waste as possible.
Among the products recycled daily are steel and aluminium cans, plastics, used vegetable oil, cardboard, advertising posters and paper.
On a company-wide basis, more than 12,400 tonnes of waste were recycled in 2009.
