The Capitol, in Dundee, has been acclaimed in the Scottish city’s annual Best Bar None awards for 2011.

The scheme, running for the sixth year, named the Lloyds No.1 bar as overall winner in the ‘best bar’ category, for the fi rst time. The Capitol also received a gold star accreditation.

The initiative rewards licensed premises which promote responsible drinking, adopt good stewarding and show high standards of customer service.

The winners from each category will now go forward to compete in the national Best Bar None Scotland Awards in March, which saw The Archibald Simpson, in Aberdeen, win in the inaugural event this year.

Jo McGregor, pub manager at The Capitol, pictured centre with bar associate Claire Conroy (left) and kitchen manager Andrea Young, said: “We are all delighted to have been voted as ‘best bar’, from so many venues in Dundee. We are all very proud of our achievement.”
