Pub manager Chris Doyle and his team at The Carrick Stone are celebrating an award, after just eight months’ business.
The pub in Cumbernauld, which opened in January 2012, was voted as ‘best pub’, in a readers’ poll in the local newspaper the Cumbernauld News.
The annual ‘Talk of the Town’ vote asks its readers to nominate their favourite firms in four categories: best hair/beauty salon; best shop; best restaurant/takeaway; best pub.
The Carrick Stone shared the title with the Coachman Hotel, in Kilsyth, as votes were tied in the ‘best pub’ category.
Jackie Mitchell, News and Chronicle editor, said: “It’s been really encouraging to see how the local community has got behind their favourite firms.
“They are clearly held in high esteem even to be nominated, but my special congratulations go to all of the category winners.”
The Carrick Stone received a certificate from the News and Chronicle – now on display at the pub. Chris, pictured with colleagues Nicky Smith, Pauline Buik and Linda Reddie, said: “We are all absolutely delighted to have been voted ‘best pub’ in this poll.
“A huge thankyou to everyone who took the time and trouble to vote for us.
“We are the new kids on the block in Cumbernauld – and the people in the town have clearly already taken the pub into their community.”
