Two pubs in Tamworth are serving a beer in memory of a popular local real-ale enthusiast.

Both The Silk Kite and The Bole Bridge are serving Captain Fantastic, brewed in memory of Keith Schofield.

Keith, known affectionately as Scogg, died at the age of 66, from stomach cancer.

Close friend John Connolly, pictured right with (left to right) Keith’s widow Jackie and pub managers Mike Gregory (The Silk Kite) and Jamie Daws (The Bole Bridge), had the beer, Captain Fantastic, brewed by Nuneaton-based Church End Brewery.

John said: “Scogg loved real ale – and I know that he would have enjoyed the beer brewed in his memory.”

John is aiming to launch a new national charity ‘SCOGG’ (Stomach-Cancer, Oncology, Guidance and Goals), in Keith’s memory.
