Staff at The Henry Bessemer rowed the equivalent distance of crossing the English Channel, to raise funds for two children’s charities.

The team members at the Workington pub, together with local fireman George Wilson, paddled the 22 miles on a rowing machine.

The family fun-day also had children’s activities, including egg-dumping (a local Easter tradition, similar to playing conkers, but with hard-boiled eggs) and an Easter raffle.

The community event raised £905, which was split 50:50 between CLIC Sargent and The Sick Children’s Trust in Newcastle.
