Members of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), St Helens and Districts branch, recognised three Wetherspoon pubs in their region, at their annual awards night.

The Running Horses and The Glass House, both in St Helens, each won a ‘pub of excellence’ award.

Duty manager Michelle Fryer is pictured outside her pub (Running Horses), with pub manager Darren Westwood, who runs The Glass House with his wife Jenny.

The Watch Maker, in Prescot, which opened in December last year, picked up the ‘newcomer of the year’ award.

All three pubs have their framed certificates on display.

Alan Healey, St Helens CAMRA branch chairman, told the St Helens Reporter newspaper: “Our awards night is really special, as it allows us as consumers to thank the people who work hard all year to provide us with good-quality real ale which we can drink in the pleasant environment of their pubs and clubs.”
