Pubs help to raise funds for local residents

Shift manager Maria Mitchell, colleagues and customers at The Up Steps Inn raised £600 for a local charity.
The fundraisers organised a sponsored walk from the Oldham pub to The Shay Wake, in Shaw, in aid of the Shaw Blast Fund.
Taking part were: Rachel Eaton, Samantha Holt, Katie Murphy, Leah White, Wendy Thorpe, Dave Hardy and Amanda Fensome.
The fund provides help and support for those who lost their homes in the Shaw gas explosion at the end of June.
Maria said: “We called in a few pubs, collecting along the way – and the support from everyone was brilliant; it really did show the spirit of Oldham – and we had such fun doing it.”
