Staff at The Masque Haunt, in Old Street, London, were keen to experience a visit to a nearby brewery.

However, the proposed tour turned into an invitation to help with a brewing session at The Portobello Brewing Company, under 10 miles from the pub.

Pictured (left to right) are duty manager Michaela White and bar associates Terrie Brady and Ed Palmer, with the guys from the brewery, including head brewer Farooq Khalid (right).

Michaela said: “We asked the brewery for a tour and were invited to help out with the whole production process of Portobello Market Porter, returning 10 days later to help to fill the barrels too.

At The Masque Haunt, the 4.6% ABV beer, which was known as Masque Haunt Porter, was enjoyed by the regular customers.
