The Tim Bobbin, in Urmston, is the first Wetherspoon pub to be awarded an OBE.

Pub manager Tony Leather (left), pictured with duty manager Paul Saunders, celebrate the accolade, awarded by Ossett Brewery, in Ossett, near Wakefield.

The Tim Bobbin is now one of a select group of flagship outlets to be included in the Ossett Beer Excellent Club. The brewery has honoured the pub for its excellence in serving Ossett Brewery’s cask beers.

Tony said: “The award is something a little bit different – and we are proud to display our plaque on the wall at the pub.

As an OBE pub, The Tim Bobbin has access to exclusive ales, available only to awarded premises. This is of particular interest to the local Campaign of Real Ale (CAMRA) Trafford & Hulme branch.
