The Prior John, in Bridlington, has been named as the East Yorkshire Town Pub of the Year, for 2010.

Members of the Hull & East Yorkshire branch of CAMRA judged the pub the winner ahead of five others nominated for this prestigious title.

A panel of judges visited each of the five finalists, scoring them against strict criteria: quality of real ale; community focus; atmosphere; campaigning; style/décor; service; welcome; value for money.

Former manager Helen Barnes (now at The Postern Gate, in York) is pictured receiving the certificate from CAMRA’s branch chairman Alan Canvess.

The Prior John’s manager, Jason Lightfoot, said: “This is the first time that the pub has won the award – and all of the staff and customers are thrilled."
