Wetherspoon kitchen associate Jonathan White (pictured) is enjoying his role at Montgomery’s Tower, in Shrewsbury.

Jonathan joined the staff earlier in the year and combines his part-time weekend duties at the pub with his studies for a catering qualification at Radbrook College, Shrewsbury.

Jonathan is one of several people with learning disabilities to find employment with Wetherspoon, gaining invaluable skills and achieving success in the work place.

On Friday evenings, as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoons, Jonathan’s kitchen responsibilities include loading the dishwasher, putting the clean crockery away and polishing the cutlery.

Montgomery’s Tower’s duty manager, Sean Devoy, said: “Jonathan’s contribution is essential in our busy kitchen. He is always cheerful, very friendly and gets on really well with all of the staff.

“He works hard, taking a great pride in his work. He listens and wants to learn. It is a pleasure to have him as part of our team.”
