The Prestwick Pioneer celebrated its first year with a Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) award.

The pub in Prestwick, Ayrshire, which opened in May 2012, was voted as South Ayrshire ‘pub of the year’ for 2012 by members of the Ayrshire and Wigtownshire CAMRA branch.

Shift manager and cellar champion Euan Scott is pictured (right) with branch vice chairman Ray Turpie, receiving the award certificate, at a special presentation evening at the pub.

Euan said; “We have been open just over a year and have made a real effort to include CAMRA in our aim to bring real ale to Prestwick.

“We are delighted to have that hard work recognised by the CAMRA members.”

Lindsay Grant, branch chairman, CAMRA Ayrshire and Wigtownshire, said: “The fact that the pub has won this award in its first year of operation is testament to the range and quality of ales on offer.”
