The steak & kidney pudding served across Wetherspoon pubs has won an award for its quality.
The pudding, produced for the company by Dunkley’s, a family business, based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, won a bronze award at the British Pie Awards 2010.
The pie capital of Melton Mowbray saw over 700 entries judged by a 60-strong judging panel, including chefs Toby Tobin, Phil Vickery and Rosemary Shrager, plus renowned restaurant critic Charles Campion, who announced the winners.
Wetherspoon’s food-development manager, Jameson Robinson, said: “Steak & kidney pudding is one of the most popular dishes on our menu.
“We have been working closely with Dunkley’s for the past five years and believe its steak & kidney pudding to be second to none.
“The quality of the pudding shines through – and we are delighted that it has now been recognised with the award.”
