Pub manager Selina Parker took on not only a pub, when she arrived at The Nightjar at the end of December, but two football teams as well!
The pub in Ferndown sponsors Ferndown Sports FC, providing kit sponsorship for both the first and reserve teams, as well as postmatch food on Saturdays.
Selina said: “When I arrived at The Nightjar, the pub already had close community links with the local football team – and I was more than happy to continue that tradition.
“The players visit the pub, and we help out with the kit sponsorship, so we support each other really.”
Ferndown Sports was founded in 2003, progressing through the Dorset leagues into the Hayward Bournemouth League division one, with promotion last season. The reserve team was set up in 2010 and currently plays in division four, with the club also entering a new third team next season.
Andy Tibbles (pictured back right), player-manager of Ferndown Sports, said: “The players often use The Nightjar for socialising – and we have a framed kit on the wall at the pub.
“We are grateful to The Nightjar and all of the local companies which assist with club donations and support.”
