The average age of the regular customers at The Kings Fee has taken a tumble, thanks to a new community initiative.
Helen Bates and Emma Banks, part-time duty managers at the Hereford pub, have launched a baby-and-toddler group for local mums and tots.
The pub provides the ideal venue for the morning gathering once a week, with plenty of room for pushchairs and child-friendly facilities.
Emma, mum to one-year-old Ewan, said: “There aren’t many cafés in Hereford with enough room for buggies, but there is loads of room at The Kings Fee.
“Being comfortable makes a huge difference, plus there are high-chairs and good baby-changing facilities at the pub.”
The group meets every Tuesday, from 10am until noon, with a complimentary cup of tea or coffee on offer for each mum and free squash for the youngsters. Parents can also order food from the pub menu, for themselves, and bring in baby food from home for their children.
Helen, mum to three-year-old Harrison, added: “We’ve had a good response – and the scheme is proving popular with the Hereford mums.”
