A beer launch with a difference at The Prince Arthur, in Fleet, attracted MPs and local councillors.

Fleet town councillor and Official Monster Raving Looney (OMRL) party leader Alan Hope, aka Howling Laud Hope, is a regular at the pub and has had an exclusive ale produced by Phil Robins at Basingstoke-based Longdog Brewery.

The ale, called Co-ALE-ition (4.2% ABV) is available only at The Prince Arthur pub and in the Houses of Parliament’s bars, marked 30 years since Screaming Lord Sutch fought the OMRL party’s first by-election.

Dan Proctor, pub manager at The Prince Arthur, said: “It was an unusual and memorable evening!”
