Three Wetherspoon pubs in Merseyside have been recognised in the annual Best Bar None awards for the area.

The Willow Grove (Southport) along with The Wild Rose and The Merton Inn (both in Bootle) were three of just four licensed premises to receive a ‘highly commended’ award at the 2011 ceremony.

More than 20 pubs, bars and nightclubs entered this year’s initiative, organised by Sefton Council, Merseyside Police and NHS Sefton, to recognise and reward conscientious licensees and best practice in bars.
