The Trafford & Hulme Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has named The Waterhouse, in Manchester’s city centre, as ‘pub of the season’, for autumn 2011.
To celebrate the award, Macclesfield-based brewery Red Willow produced a pale ale, named Waterhouse Ale (5.1% ABV), which was launched at the pub on the presentation evening.
Trafford & Hulme CAMRA’s website said: “The pub has built an enviable reputation for both the quality and range of its cask ales, under manager Sarah Barker.
“Alongside the regular Wetherspoon offering of Abbot Ale, the pub is one of a few to serve Phoenix Wobbly Bob permanently, alongside a further six guest ales which often rotate daily.”
Sarah, pictured centre with Beverley Gobbett, chairperson of Trafford and Hulme CAMRA, added: “It is great that the hard work of my cellar champions, Kevin Muldoon (now at The Seven Stars) and Adam Taylor (left), has been recognised.”
