Author Clive Tandy hosted a booksigning session at The Trawl Boat Inn, in Lytham St Anne’s.

The interactive event, for his first book in the Quarry Grove series, entitled ‘Hicky Gets His Wings’, was attended by local youngsters.

Clive, pictured with Max, Oliver, Parker and Ruby Simms, donated five per cent of book sales to CLIC Sargent.

Created by Clive 30 years ago, Quarry Grove is a small community of quirky mini beasts. Having been shelved for 25 years, on the brink of a publication deal, Clive decided to get his stories published as a series, on the request of his granddaughter.

Clive said: “Thanks to the encouragement of my granddaughter, Rebecca, who read the manuscript and described it as ‘cool’, I decided to take her advice, shake the dust off and publish it as a series of stories.”

Plans are already under way to publish the second tale – Crusty Pie from Mars – featuring even more unusual insect characters, including an odd crustacean! Visit:
