The Picture House, in Colwyn Bay, has gained recognition from its local Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) branch members.
The Abercolwyn CAMRA branch has voted the north Wales pub as ‘Pub of the Season’ for spring 2010.
The pub, which regularly serves a selection of beers from nearby Conwy Brewery, is a great supporter of CAMRA LocAle – the new accreditation scheme to promote pubs which sell locally brewed real ale, reducing the number of ‘beer miles’ and supporting your local breweries.
Located just seven miles west of the pub, in Conwy, its ales includes Rampart (4.5% ABV premium bitter), Telford Porter (5.6% ABV Victorian- style porter) and Welsh Pride (4.0% ABV copper- coloured bitter).
As well as the company’s two annual beer festivals, The Picture House also stages a Welsh beer festival where ales from all over Wales are showcased, including those from Cardiff-based SA Brain & Co.
Steve Bland, pub manager at The Picture House, said: “We are thrilled to have been selected as best pub in the area for spring 2010, ahead of numerous other excellent outlets.”
Abercolwyn CAMRA branch’s chairman, Ian Saunders (pictured right presenting Steve with his certificate), said: “I would like to praise Steve and his staff for keeping the real ale in excellent form at The Picture House.”
