Yachtsman Sir Alec Rose, who completed his solo round-the-world voyage in 1968, has had a Wetherspoon pub named after him.
The company has renamed its pub in Port Solent – The Sir Alec Rose.
It coincides with his yacht, Lively Lady, returning to its new home at Port Solent Marina, where it is positioned close to the pub.
To mark the homecoming and the renamed pub, The Sir Alec Rose hosted a party which included members of Sir Alec Rose’s family.
The boat had sailed into Port Solent Marina accompanied by a flotilla of boats, to mark her arrival.
She is positioned on ‘N Pontoon’ for berth-holders and the public to admire and to learn all about her rich history, achievements and future ambitions.
Photos and information panels about Sir Alec Rose and Lively Lady are displayed in the pub.
