The Imperial, in Exeter, hosted the inaugural UK Rock Paper Scissors Championship.

Hundreds of competitors and spectators enjoyed the outside event in the pub’s large beer garden, with 22-year-old Nick Hemley winning the coveted title.

He was presented with the £100 first prize, as well as vouchers for a meal for four at The Imperial.

The event’s organiser, Sally Raynes (of Wacky Nations), said: “There was a great atmosphere – and it was wonderful to see so many people taking part, including those who dressed in some weird and wonderful costumes.”

The pub’s manager, Paul Dixey, said: “We were thrilled to host the championship and pleased that the day was such a great success.”

A charity ‘winner stays on’ challenge, to find the person with the longest unbeaten run, raised £100 for CLIC Sargent.
