Gold awards recognise safety

There was double delight in Weymouth, as both Wetherspoon pubs in the town scoped a gold award for the third successive year.
Husband-and-wife pub managers Kim and Steve Newstead have both received the highest safety award for their pubs in Weymouth.
Kim’s pub The Swan and Steve’s pub The William Henry have been accredited with a gold award, for the third successive year, in the Dorset town’s Drink Safe Street Safe initiative.
Introduced by the Dorset police in 2006, the initiative aims to reward and recognise licensees’ commitment to public safety, as per the standards set out by central government.
