Area manager Gill Brown, pictured with Barry Cryer and friends at The Moon and Sixpence, Hatch End, has been crowned ‘Champions League’ winner.
Wetherspoon ran an internal competition, for all 70 of the company’s area managers, in a Champions League-style knock-out contest.
The initiative ran for six months, with two managers going head to head at every stage. The results of two monthly external mystery-shopper visits to their pubs determined the winner for the next round.
Gill, who was recently promoted to area manager for north London and Middlesex, averaged 91 per cent in visits to some of the estate’s oldest pubs.
