Customers at The Last Post have chosen a winner in the pub’s annual ‘Battle of the Brewers’ real-ale competition.

Regulars at the Paisley pub enjoyed a selection of nine ales every month, three beers from three Scottish breweries, throughout 2010, with Fyne Ales proving to be the most popular.

In the final, the brewery, located at Carindow, in Argyll, near Loch Fyne, was up against Aviemore-based Cairngorm Brewery Company and Kelburn Brewing Company, from Barrhead.

Among the winning Fyne Ales available were Avalanche (a dry, strawcoloured beer at 4.5% ABV), Piper’s Gold (a bitter pale ale at 3.8% ABV) and Vital Spark (a dark full-bodied ale at 4.4% ABV).
