Fund-raisers at The New Fairlop Oak, in Barkingside, are well on their way to achieving their total of £10,000 for two charities.
Staff and customers, from the Wetherspoon outlet in Fencepiece Road, took part in a sponsored charity bike ride on Sunday (12 July), raising money for both CLIC Sargent and London’s Air Ambulance (HEMS).
The 37-strong group cycled eight one-mile laps of the lake at Fairlop Waters Country Park, a total distance of eight miles.
They also held a raffle, with prizes donated from local businesses and customers, and sold donated drinks on the day, to boost the charities’ coffers.
The fund-raising activities continue on Saturday 15 August, with a charity evening ‘Suited and Booted’ at pub. Customers can enjoy a buffet, as well as live music entertainment, for a £3 charity contribution.
The pub’s manager, Karen Catchpole, said: “The bike ride was a huge success – and we are well on our way to achieving our aim of £10,000 for CLIC Sargent and HEMS.
“The forthcoming ‘Suited and Booted’ night, with customers hopefully getting into the spirit of the evening by dressing for the occasion, promises to be another great event.”
The total amount of money raised from the two events will be split equally between the two charities.
